Yes, that’s right. This last week I’ve been exercising my minimal web-monkeying skills cooking up http://www.minutemanbristol.com/ for my friend Peter who is setting up a Minuteman Press shop in Bristol. I finally found myself forced to use PHP, which I had been resisting for years, since it seemed to be the only scripting language available on the IIS server he’s using.

September 20, 2006AVG detects virus in Firefox’s xpiclean.exe – false positive?
September 20, 2006I just went to update firefox from 2.0 beta 1 to 2.0 beta 2, but AVG antivirus stopped me, telling me that firefox’s xpicleanup.exe contains virus PSW.Generic2.ILX.
I asked around on IRC and apparently this is a false positive. In fact, asking AVG to update its virus definitions stops the detection.
It seems today’s update fixes the problem. Previously I was using yesterday’s virus definitions.
My Gmail came back

Google Lockdowns
April 17, 2006I was just surfing around trying to find if anyone else was having a similar problem to me, and found this.
72 Hours Later
April 17, 2006So I was told that my account would be back "within 24 hours", but that was over 72 hours ago. I've sent a few more emails to the Gmail team complaining about this, and now I have a response:
How satisfied are you with your overall Gmail experience?
April 15, 2006About a month ago my primary Gmail account started playing up. I noticed that most times I tried to use the webmail interface to read my mail it wouldn't let me log in, and on the rare occasion that it did let me in, it would freeze up after a minute or two. My other Gmail account was fine, but I had never used it for anything, so none of my mail was going to that address.
